The benefit

Why venetian blinds belong at the roof window

Roof windows heat up strongly and are hard to shade. Guided aluminium venetian blinds solve heat, glare and privacy in one.

Heat protection Aluminium venetian blind protects the roof window from heat

Keep the heat out

Aluminium reflects part of the solar radiation — the heat does not build up under the roof. The room stays noticeably cooler than behind bare glass.

Light control Stepless light direction at the roof window

Adjust light steplessly

Via the slat angle you dose the incoming light degree by degree — from bright to strongly darkened, glare-free at the desk under the roof.

Guided Laterally guided venetian blind on the sloping roof

Guided on the slope

On the sloping roof the venetian blind is guided at the sides, so that the covering does not sag and sits neatly in every position — even with the window open.

Moisture-resistant Moisture-resistant aluminium venetian blind at the roof window in the bathroom

Also for bathroom roof windows

Aluminium does not swell and is wipeable with a damp cloth — ideal for roof windows in bathroom and kitchen under the roof, where fabric quickly reaches its limits.

Maximum blackout under the roof? For almost light-tight attic rooms a guided Blackout roller blind is the more consistent choice — the venetian blind scores with stepless light control and heat protection.

Buying advice

How to plan venetian blinds for the roof window

Roof windows are a special challenge: they are angled, directly exposed to the sun and strongly heat up the room below in summer. On Aluminium Venetian blind is ideal here because it partly reflects the radiation and at the same time doses the light steplessly.

Important is the guided mounting. Because the window lies at an angle, a freely hanging covering would sag. The venetian blind is therefore held laterally in guide rails, so that it rests neatly against the glass in every position — even with the window tilted. We clarify the right guide system for your window type at the consultation.

About the slat angle you regulate light and glare degree by degree. This is especially valuable under the roof, where the sun travels a lot across the day — at the workplace the screen stays glare-free without it getting dark.

A practical plus: aluminium is moisture-resistant and wipeable. This also makes the venetian blind suitable for roof windows in the bathroom and kitchen, where moisture and steam would take their toll on a fabric covering.

  • Aluminium reflects solar radiation — less heat build-up under the roof
  • Guided at the sides: sits neatly on the slope in every position
  • Adjust light and glare steplessly via the slat angle
  • Moisture-resistant & wipeable — also for bathroom and kitchen roof windows

Which guide system and slat width suit your roof window is best clarified on site: during the free home consultation in the canton of Zurich we take the measurements and bring samples.

Frequently asked questions

Venetian blinds for the roof window — what you should know

Does a venetian blind hold on a sloping roof window? +

Yes — it is guided at the sides, so that the covering does not sag and rests neatly against the glass in every position, even with the window tilted. We clarify the right guide system depending on the window type.

Does a venetian blind help against the heat under the roof? +

Yes. Aluminium slats reflect part of the solar radiation, so that the heat builds up less in the room. Light-coloured slats are most effective; closed during the day they keep the room noticeably cooler.

Can I black out the roof window with it? +

The venetian blind darkens strongly, but a fine seam of light remains at the slat edges. For nearly complete darkness under the roof, a guided Blackout roller blind is the more consistent solution.

Is a venetian blind suitable for the roof window in the bathroom? +

Very well. Aluminium is moisture-resistant and wipeable, does not swell and does not go mouldy — ideal for roof windows in the bathroom and kitchen, where fabric coverings quickly reach their limits.

What does a venetian blind for the roof window cost? +

That depends on window size, guide system and slat width. In the Venetian blind configurator you can calculate a guide price — no registration needed. A binding quotation follows at the home consultation.
