Frequently asked questions about kitchen pleated blinds

Can the pleated blind cope with cooking steam and grease?

For the kitchen I choose easy-care, resilient fabrics. They are simple to clean and do not absorb odours the way heavy fabric does.

Can I wash the fabric?

Many kitchen fabrics can be washed at 30 degrees. I will tell you which ones can as you choose.

Can it be done without drilling?

Yes — clamped to the kitchen window instead of screwed, with no holes in the frame. Ideal in a rented flat too.

A pleated blind that stops prying eyes — and lets light through +

Kitchen windows often face straight onto the garden, the house next door or the street. A semi-sheer pleated blind keeps views out and daylight in — made to the millimetre for your window and, on request, fitted to the sash entirely without drilling. In the configurator you see your price in 2 minutes. Not sure how dense the fabric should be? Order free samples first and hold them up to your kitchen window.

Cook without glare, work without glare +

From sheer glare protection to insulating honeycomb blinds — four ways a pleated blind makes your kitchen brighter, calmer and more practical.

Pleated blinds for the kitchen — which fabric fits? +

We make every version to measure and, on request, fit it to the window sash without drilling. The difference lies in light transmission, privacy and insulation — here you can see which fabric suits your kitchen window. Lets the maximum amount of daylight into the kitchen and takes only the dazzling peak off the backlight — ideal for north-facing windows and dark cooking alcoves. You work without glare at the worktop, without the room darkening. Fitted tensioned, the Windowsill kept clear for herb pots and utensils. The all-rounder for a kitchen window facing the street: the view in is blocked from outside while it stays pleasantly bright inside. Because the pleated blind and can be adjusted from below, you open up the view outside at the top while keeping the sink and dining area screened below.

How to find the right pleated blind for your kitchen +

A kitchen makes its own particular demands on a window covering — this is where cooking, steaming and splashing happen, and yet it should stay bright and welcoming. The most important question first: How much light do you want to keep? Anyone who works at the sink or the worktop facing the window knows that dazzling backlight in the afternoon. A a sheer or semi-sheer pleated blind takes exactly that glare away without darkening the kitchen — you can see clearly again what is on the chopping board. If the window should also protect against views from the street, a semi-sheer fabric is the best compromise: dense from outside, bright from inside. The second point is the Care, and dab with a barely damp cloth if needed. Wipe out the guide rails occasionally so the blind runs smoothly. We replace damaged fabric wipeable, easy-care pleated blind fabrics: grease marks and splashes can be removed with a damp cloth, without the blind having to go for cleaning straight away. Above the hob there is one more rule: fabrics that are as densely woven and smooth as possible, absorbing little kitchen odour. Third, the Installation. The great advantage of the pleated blind in a kitchen is that it tensioned directly on the window sash sits — with clamp brackets, entirely without drilling. That is not only ideal for rented kitchens, it also keeps the Windowsill kept clear: space that is very welcome in a kitchen for herb pots, oil and utensils. Because the pleated blind travels with the sash, you can still open and tilt the window fully to air the room.

Pleated blinds in the kitchen — what you should know +

For the kitchen we recommend wipeable, easy-care fabrics, because grease and steam settle here over time. How much light comes through depends on the window: sheer or semi-sheer fabrics for dark kitchens and glare protection, a honeycomb blind (Duette) for large south-facing windows with heat protection. Above the hob, smooth, densely woven fabrics are the best choice. Yes. Almost all our pleated blinds can be fitted with Clamp brackets fix directly on the window sash — completely without drilling and residue-free. This is ideal for rented kitchens: no intervention in the frame or wall, no management consent needed, simply remove when moving out. More on this on our page Pleated blind without drilling. Light grease marks and splashes can be removed with a damp cloth and a little mild cleaner carefully — which is why a wipeable fabric pays off in a kitchen. Dust can be removed with a vacuum cleaner on a low setting or a soft brush. For heavier soiling, gentle hand washing according to the enclosed care instructions is suitable. Do not rub hard, so that the pleats keep their shape.

What else you should know +

At the free home consultation in the canton of Zurich we bring fabric samples in various degrees of transparency — you judge glare protection, view and colour right at your kitchen window. Best for kitchens facing the street View pleated blinds Calculate the price in the configurator Heat protection Honeycomb blind (Duette) The double honeycomb structure forms a cushion of air at the glass and keeps the fierce sun out in summer — at large kitchen windows and patio doors in particular it stays noticeably cooler behind it.
