Frequently asked questions about bedroom pleated blinds

Does it really get dark?

There are fabrics from dimming to strongly darkening. I show you the levels right at your window — so you choose exactly the darkness you need.

What helps against the morning sun?

A blackout fabric, fitted precisely to the window. Because the pleated blind is made to measure, hardly any gap of light remains.

Can it be done without drilling?

Yes — clamped instead of screwed, with no holes in the frame. Removable without a trace when you move out.

Stops exactly where you let go

You slide the bedroom pleated blind up or down by the handle — and it stays in any height you like stop. From the top, from the bottom or free in the middle: you control light and view steplessly, with no fixed notches.

Pleated blind free in the middle of the window: the view outside stays clear above and below.
Free in the middlePrivacy at eye level, light above and below.
Pleated blind pulled down from the top: the upper part of the window is shaded, the view stays clear below.
From the topShaded at the top, clear view below.
Pleated blind raised from the bottom: the lower part of the window is opaque, daylight comes in above.
From the bottomOpaque at the bottom, full daylight above.
Pleated blind fully closed: the fabric covers the window completely.
Fully closedWindow completely covered, full privacy.

At the tensioned bedroom pleated blind the fabric runs between two rails — it holds in any position, on a skylight too. On request we supply it with a motor and radio remote control; simply ask us.

Pleated blinds made to measure — folded, not rolled +

Why a pleated blind suits a bedroom +

Three things matter most in a bedroom: quiet, a comfortable temperature and no disturbance in the morning. A honeycomb pleated blind delivers all three — with a warm textile look instead of plastic. The Honeycomb structure of two layers of fabric with a cushion of air between them keeps heat out in summer and warmth in during winter — noticeable at a bedroom window that is often poorly insulated. With blackout fabric and top-down bottom-up operation it gets noticeably darker. For complete darkness with no gap of light at all, we honestly recommend the guided Blackout roller blind.

How to plan a pleated blind for the bedroom +

The most important point is the an honest expectation of how dark it gets. A pleated blind with blackout fabric darkens noticeably, but — unlike a guided cassette roller blind — leaves a fine gap of light at the edge. If you need complete darkness for shift work or very light-sensitive sleep, you are Blackout roller blind better served. If you want clear but not absolute darkening with a warm textile look, the pleated blind is the right choice. Second, the Insulation: a honeycomb pleated blind has two layers of fabric with an air chamber between them. This construction acts like an extra layer of window insulation — it stays cooler in summer and holds warmth in the room in winter. The effect is most noticeable on older or poorly insulated windows. Third, the Operation: the handle bar directly on the fabric opens and closes silently — a small difference from chain systems, but a noticeable one in a bedroom. With top-down bottom-up you can open just the upper part in the morning without giving up privacy below.

Pleated blinds for the bedroom — what you should know +

With blackout fabric it is considerably darker, but not completely light-tight — a fine gap remains at the edge. For complete darkness (for shift work, for example) we recommend the guided Blackout roller blind. A Honeycomb blind with its air chamber insulates and can noticeably help save energy on poorly insulated windows — but on its own it is no substitute for replacing the windows. No. The Handle bar directly on the fabric opens and closes silently — unlike chain systems, which can rattle.
