Who is Kvadrat?
Kvadrat is a Danish design textile house, known for high-quality, often wool-based fabrics and for textile acoustic solutions . The materials combine sophisticated design with functional properties — exactly what a good acoustic curtain needs.
How does a curtain absorb sound?
Sound is absorbed by soft, porous and heavy surfaces instead of reflected. Three things matter most for the effect of an acoustic curtain:
- Mass and density of the fabric – the heavier, the more effective
- Fullness – generously pleated, the curtain works better
- Distance from the wall or glass – a bit of air behind it increases the effect
This is how reverberation is reduced noticeably, speech becomes clearer and the room feels calmer.
Where is an acoustic curtain worthwhile?
- Home office and video calls – clearer speech intelligibility
- Living spaces with lots of glass, stone or exposed concrete
- Restaurants, practices, meeting rooms
The advantage over acoustic panels: the curtain combines sound absorption and shading in one — while still looking homely.
