Why a pleated blind makes sense for the kids' room
Unlike a curtain, a pleated blind has no freely hanging fabric that can be pulled or swung on. It lies flat against the window, operates with little force and — when properly mounted — is one of the most child-safe window solutions there is.
Safety first: the cord
The most important point in the kids' room isn't the fabric, but the operation. Loose cords or chains are a well-known risk for small children.
Standard on LEHA pleated blinds: The chain is fixed firmly to the window reveal or frame with a bracket. Nothing hangs loose as a result, and the chain can't be pulled off. During the home consultation we show you the safety fitting directly on the window.
- Always install a chain tensioner — even if it seems unnecessary at first glance.
- Operating wand instead of chain is a cordless alternative for very small rooms.
- Handle rail on the bottom rail can be operated completely without any pull mechanism — the simplest solution.
Getting the blackout right for the afternoon nap
So that small children can settle down even in broad afternoon daylight, the pleated blind needs to close as gap-free as possible. Two fabric groups are particularly suited for this:
- Blackout fabric, guided at the sides: A side guide rail on the left and right prevents light gaps at the frame — important, because kids' rooms are often used during the day.
- Honeycomb blind (Duette): The double fabric with an air chamber also insulates heat and some sound — handy if the room faces the street.
For everyday use, a combination is often worthwhile: a transparent pleated blind for daytime, plus a second, opaque pleated blind or a blackout roller blind for the afternoon rest.
Colours, patterns & care
Pleated blind fabrics come in a wide range — from plain, solid colours to child-friendly patterns. Most qualities are smoothly coated and can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth, which helps with fingerprints or small stains. A vacuum cleaner with a furniture brush is enough for normal cleaning.
Mounting: with or without drilling
