Fabrics for your bedroom Roman blind

In a bedroom the fabric decides both your sleep and your privacy: opaque for the evening, blackout for the morning. I bring the samples to the appointment and hold them up to your window in daylight.

A note on the blackout fabrics: “100 % blackout” refers to the fabric — no light passes through the fabric itself. A Roman blind hangs freely in horizontal folds, however, so a fine rim of light remains at the fold edges and at the sides of the window.

How dark does the bedroom really get? +

With an opaque fabric the evening becomes calm and private, with Blackout considerably darker. A Roman blind will not make it pitch dark, though: it hangs freely in horizontal folds, and a rim of light remains at the folds and the sides. If you want to sleep on past sunrise, add a Blackout roller blind behind it — the Roman blind stays as the attractive layer in front.

What does a bedroom Roman blind cost? +

The price is determined by Fabric, window size and mechanism — a blackout weave costs more than a light decorative fabric. I measure free of charge first, after which everything is set out in a fixed quote.

How long is the warranty? +

5 years on the mechanism (directly from LEHA), 2 years on fabric and installation. If the cord pulls stiffly or a fold hangs crooked, we come by free of charge within that time.

What happens if something isn’t right? +

If the Roman blind we deliver differs from the quote — wrong fabric, wrong measurements, a crooked seam — we come free of charge and replace it. No discussion.

How long does delivery take? +

As soon as the fabric and measurements are confirmed, your Roman blind goes to the workroom. The current delivery time is shown at the top of the page; we arrange the installation date afterwards.

Why Roman blinds suit the bedroom +

A bedroom should feel calm and soft — and dark enough to sleep. The Roman blind combines decorative folds with honest light control. The soft horizontal folds take the hardness out of the window and let the bedroom calm and cosy look — without the mass of fabric of a floor-length curtain. On its own the Roman blind dims pleasantly. With a blackout fabric it becomes considerably darker — and for real darkness you combine it with a roller blind behind it.

How to find the right Roman blind for the bedroom +

In the bedroom the window should calm and soft look. That is exactly what the Roman blind does: as it is raised, the fabric settles into soft horizontal folds and takes the hardness out of the window — without the mass of fabric of a floor-length curtain, which is practical with a bed under the window. For Blackout calls for honesty: a Roman blind dims pleasantly, but by its nature it is not blackout. With a blackout fabric it gets considerably darker; anyone who really wants to sleep in the dark combines it with a roller blind behind — the roller blind provides the darkness, the Roman blind the beauty. What is practical is the intermediate position: stopped at half-height you let in soft grazing light while the lower window area stays closed. A pleasant transition in the morning, a good compromise of light and privacy in the evening.

Roman blinds for the bedroom — what you should know +

It dims pleasantly but is not a blackout. With a blackout fabric it gets considerably darker; for an almost light-tight room, combine it with a roller blind behind. The Roman blind is ideal when the bed stands under the window or space is tight — it does not hang into the room. A Curtain looks fuller and also dampens noise. With a an opaque fabric yes — fully lowered it reliably protects from being seen, even when the light is on inside. Translucent fabrics are not enough for that.
