The dimout fabric darkens strongly but lets a soft residual twilight — the room does not become pitch dark, but pleasantly subdued. The right choice if you like to feel a little daylight in the morning and still want to sleep undisturbed. On request also with cassette and side channels for less edge light.

In a rented flat no one has to do without darkness: many roller blinds can be fitted with clamp brackets directly on the window sash mount — entirely without drilling and residue-free. Compact in the reveal, the windowsill stays clear. For maximum blackout choose a tensioned build that also guides the fabric at the sides.

Buying advice
The decisive question is: How dark does it really need to be? If you fall asleep well in soft twilight, you are Dimout roller blind is best served — it darkens strongly but lets a soft residual twilight through. Anyone who is light-sensitive or sleeps during the day on shift work, by contrast, needs genuine Blackout: a light-tight fabric, combined with a cassette and side guide rails. Because a roller blind only blacks out as well as it closes the edge — with open fitting some light always falls in at the window edge. Only the rails guide the fabric at the sides and reduce this gap of light to a minimum. That is the great advantage of the roller blind over a freely hanging blind: it sits tight to the glass and seals almost completely.
The second thing to look at is the Installation. A roller blind sits compactly in the window reveal or directly on the sash and barely projects — the The windowsill stays clear, unlike a floor-length curtain. In a rented flat you fix many roller blinds with clamp brackets, entirely without drilling, residue-free and without the management's consent. Anyone allowed to drill gains extra darkness with a wall or ceiling mount in front of the recess, because the covering generously overlaps the window. For tilt and roof windows, a tensioned construction that the blind stays taut against the glass even with the sash open.

For complete darkness, by contrast, choose the single-layer blackout blind with rails.

Operation
You pull the chain — and the roller blind stays at any height you like stop. Fully closed, half open, just a gap: you control light and view steplessly, with no fixed notches.
Which side the Operating chain hangs — on the left or the right — you choose in the configurator. On request we also supply the blind with a motor and radio remote control; simply ask us.
Measure correctly
You give us the finished width and Height — we work out the rest. So that the blind runs freely and the the chain has room at the side, the fabric panel is slightly narrower than the window. The sketch shows the deductions:
outer edge to outer edge of the blind. With wall or ceiling fitting, the brackets sit approx. 23 mm inside — that is already included.
The fabric is, compared with the roller tube, 17 mm on the left (chain side) and 12 mm on the right narrower — so it does not rub anywhere and the chain runs freely.
Height = the desired length of the fabric panel. Which side the chain hangs, choose the top — it needs a few centimetres of clearance.

Should the blind in front of the window reveal — on the wall or ceiling — measure a little more generously so that no light falls in at the sides. These sketches show the recommended overlaps: approx. 7.5 cm on each side, left and right.
